Evaluation Question 7
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full production?
Looking back at my preliminary task I feel that I have gained much more knowledge than I had at the beginning of the year.
The preliminary task challenged continuity, match on action and the 180degree rule. Being able to trial different ways in which I can use those conventions of media not only saved time during the min task but improved my level of skill so that my main production could be more effective and look more professional.
I also got the chance to introduce myself to the editing software I would be using to edit my main task with. This made me more confident when approaching that stage of my main task as I had a brief but good enough understanding of where to start which also saved some time overall.
I have learnt to plan into much more detail what is within my camera shot which I wasn't really concerned about for the preliminary task.
Doing the preliminary task also gave me the opportunity to experiment with different camera shots and angles which later helped me decide which ones would be more appropriate and effective to use in my main task.

Evaluation Question 5
How did you attract/address your audience?
Another way in which i addressed the audience was through my use of music. The music has a contrast of low, bass notes and a higher pitch piano sound which reflects the two different personalities and contrasting characteristics of the two main characters. I chose this style of music as i felt it fitted the social group i was aiming to represent. I also wanted the piano to be the main sound as it reflects a high level of control (ballerina) and an innocent purity.
Evaluation Question 4
4 Who would be the audience for your
media product?
For every film genre
there will be a different target audience. Sometimes the target markets overlap
and can also be based on other films.
The type of person that would go and see an action film such
as ‘The Avengers’ are most likely to be different to the type of person that
would go see a horror film such as ‘The Purge’. These films would attract
different audiences because of the general content. The elements that
contribute to the type of genre of the film are: actors, the story line, film
treatment and script (language). Therefore, for my film I need to specify and
understand my audience and their preferences so that I can tailor my product to
best fit my target market.
The age of my target market would be teenagers- young
adults. This is because the story line and content of my product wouldn't be
suitable or understandable to children roughly under the age of around 12-13.
The gender of the audience would mostly be female as the two
main characters are female, therefore the social group they are representing
would be more appreciated/ relatable by or with a female audience.
The activities represented are horse riding and ballet; this
will affect the target audience. It is likely that they will have an interest
in similar, if not the same sports.
